Tough Bike - Adams Show Winning Bike
Awarded: Best Street Custom Bike AND Peoples Choice Award & Featured on Front Cover of Ozbiker Magazine
Adam's customized Harley Davidson earnt him the title of Best Street Custom Bike & Peoples Choice Award at the Bankstown Custom Motorcycle show in 2005.
- This bike took 3 months to build and cost $6000 to paint.
- Adam has built quite a few customs before but this was his first personal one.
- It's an evolution engine that he rebuilt; "I could ride that bike to Perth right now and I know it won't stop"
- The supercharged motor runs stock compression because, without the high compression, there is no overheating, no rich mixtures so it's more environmentally friendly.
- The Magna Charger is geared to nine pound of boost which doubles the torque and produces 45% more horsepower.
- The stainless steel exhaust system was made by Adam - by welding all the right bends together. It's just straight through because of the supercharging.
- With an Avon 250 rear tyre.
- All big boys toys come with a price tag, and to create a custom bike from basic elements start from $45,000
- You can't build them any cheaper than $45,000 and that's the basic Chopper.
- This bike also features on the front cover with a 6 page spread in OZ Biker Magazine (edition 283)

Springer Custom - Featured in Ozbiker Magazine
Story by Walter Wall - Ozbiker Magazine edition 291
Adam Layton builds beautiful high performance custom bikes at his workshop in the outskirts of Sydney. This one came in an old bike for a rear end job and it left as one very tasty Springer custom… Although you can't tell now, this bike entered my workshop for its regular service as a '95 model Springer.
The owner also wanted me to install a street able bigger rear-end and we decided on using a 250 upgrade from Scotty's Choppers (for whom I am a Sydney agent). The owner is into drag cars and he asked me about hotting up the Evo motor while it was here. I said "If your into and own drag cars your not going to be interested in a hotted-up an 80 cubic inch Evo" and I suggested he go for a S&S 124 cubic inch replacement motor. I believe these are the best street-race engines available at the moment and they come with a two year warranty when fitted by a preferred S&S dealer. And all parts used at APL are warranted by their Australian Importers.
We chose a six-speeder gearbox and my own specific ratios for first and second, to give it more low down power. I also fitted a BDL 2000 top fuel clutch and a 3.25 inch belt drive. APL is the sole importer of Pro Fab parts. Pro Fab side-mounts are precision made to fit all belt driven primary drives - BDL, Primo, Ness, etc and bolt to the jack-shaft support plate. I believe Vance & Hines pipes are one of the best pipes on the market today. They've got style, a tough note, they work well and add performance. The seat has been done by my trimmer, Dave. I fitted a fully functional Dakota speedo in the original spot. If you look closely you'll see my Radius Spacers (manufactured in house on my C&C lathe) fitted either side of the PM wheels front and rear. You'll see also the new Headwings Headlight with the Springer mount. Headwings make all the special application headlamps for choppers in America. Springer front ends need regular servicing and the lower linkage needs to be adjusted every 10,000kms.
This makes a massive difference to the bikes long term handling. It is vitally important to provide the full package of Power with Handling-to-Match. Because of the horsepower gain to this particular bike, I customized the internals of the front shock with Koni Valves to gain the dampening we needed to prevent the front end from becoming light and bouncing.
"This 95' Springer came in an old bike due for a service, now it's a new bike with a two year warranty and has considerably more horsepower - we're talking 135 raw horsepower! It was built in less than three months - although it required a lot of late nights from me because the job kept changing - but all for the better".

I feel privileged for the demand of qualified, top-line Harley services and that my racing background has enabled me to provide this.
